Sara's Analysis

The results of the mock election can be analyzed in different patterns.

Student’s that are residents of the Dunwoody neighborhood voted more popularly for Bush than any other neighborhood, or home school. 100% of students from McNair, Cross Keys, and Chamblee high schools voted for Kerry.

The student body as a whole voted dramatically more Democratic than Republican. This was easily predicted by the web design team due to the liberal nature of our school and also the young age of our voter population.

Will's Analysis

The results that were gathered from the DSA mock election parallels the actual 2004 DeKalb county vote results. DSA's students come from many areas of DeKalb County. Once we compared the percentages of the real election for Dekalb County to the results of the students whose home schools are in DeKalb County, we found that the percentages were similar. We can also conclude that the students vote similarly to their parents.

There can also be many assumptions made as to why most people at Dekalb School of the Arts voted for Democrat. One reason can be because of the arts, and how it influences who was voted for. Another thing that can be assumed is the urban background of most of the students, since many of the urban counties of Georgia showed a more Democratic influence. There were also a few students who wanted to vote for Badnarik, but this was not an option in our vote. We did record, however, the students who wanted to vote for Badnarik, and once we calculated what the percentages would look like if we indeed did have him as an option, the percentages did resemble areas of Georgia.

Also calculated were the votes for the amendment pertaining to gay marriage. In these results, a majority of students voted for gay marriage (against the amendment). These results did not reflect the majority of the votes of certain areas of Georgia.

In conclusion, the presidential results from the Mock Election reflected those of certain areas of Georgia. The amendment results of Dekalb School of the Arts, however, did not reflect certain areas of Georgia.
